Rocky Mountain High, or how Sweep it is

WOW. Just WOW. That’s all I can say right now after witnessing Colorado Rockies defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 4 of the NLCS with a final score of 6-4. This is the game which I should have live blogged. With their 21st win in 22 games, the unstoppable Rockies beat the Diamondbacks to complete the sweep. Having swept the Phillies, the Rockies are the first team in MLB history to sweep their first two rounds of playoff action.

Matt Holiday led the team with a three run homer in the fourth inning, part of a six run inning for the Rockies.  Arizona threatened in the 8th inning with a three run shot by Snyder, but Corpas was able to come in to the game and save it for the Rockies. The final out came in the hands of rookie shortstop shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who charged the ball and threw it over to Helton at first base. Byrnes, who grounded out in the last play of the game, dove into first, but he was short of the base by a few inches. Todd Helton has waited so long to go to the World Series, and was emotional in post-game interviews. “I can’t believe it, what a crazy game,” Helton said. “Emotionally, you can’t say enough about this ballclub.”

Matt Holiday won the NLCS MVP award, and hopefully he follows that with the MVP award for the season.  I can’t say enough about this team. Amazing defense. Timely hitting. Dominant pitching. This team has it all. It doesn’t matter who the Rockies face in the postseason; the way they are playing right now, they are going to sweep the World Series.
