Yankees to Make Offers

Hank Steinbrenner made it clear on Wednesday: The New York Yankees want catcher Jorge Posada and reliever Mariano Rivera to stay in pinstripes.

The New York Post
reported Thursday that Steinbrenner promised to make new, larger bids, likely over the weekend, to both Posada and Rivera for the rest of their careers.

“These are going to be substantial offers,” Steinbrenner said yesterday by phone. “We are not going to short-change these guys. I think we have a great chance to get back who we want back. We are going to make it obvious how much we want them, and then, ultimately, it is up to them.”

Seems like the New York Yankees are keen on keeping their team together. They have pretty much secured Damon, and are now hoping that their closer and star catcher remain with the team.
